DESCRIPTION:
Joseph Ives, Plainville, Conn., 8 day, time and strike, weight brass movement O.G, gilt columns and gilt leaf crest shelf clock. This case has the earlier version of the movement as it has a partial cast iron backplate. The later version made by Hills, Goodrich & Co had full cast iron backplate.
CONDITION:
Mahogany veneered case in an old and possibly original finish has a couple chips on the outer band, some loss on the right side and a little damage on the bottom edge of the door. Original painted dial is in nice condition. Gilt crest and columns are very nice as well. The side mirrors on either side of the columns are missing, but easily replaced. Period mirror is replaced. Minute hand has been repaired. The original label is now attached to a french broadside dated 1886. It may be possible to separate the two. Original weights which are important as they are unique to this model clock.
